BIOGRAPHY
Beki Smith is a composer living in Glasgow, currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

My interests in music stem from a very young age, starting when I began to take piano and trumpet lessons around the age of 7. This passion quickly developed over my school years, and when I reached the end of High School, I knew that I wanted to study music. I studied A-Âlevels in music, maths and philosophy at the City of StokeÂ-on-ÂTrent Sixth Form College, and it was here that I was persuaded to pursue composition. Before beginning my studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I took composition and harmony lessons with Matthew Sergeant and attended a Sound and Music Summer School for young composers; this was my first experience in getting my work performed. I am now studying in my second year at the RCS, where I receive tuition from Rory Boyle.

I have had my compositions performed in Glasgow, during the RCS plug festival 2012, been lucky enough to work with the RedNote Ensemble, and have a future commission for Perth Symphony Orchestra in 2014.

I am studying composition in Gent, Belgium on an Erasmus exchange. Here I will be working with film composer Dirk Brossé for 4 months.
